According to the data monitored by SunSirs, the spot price of softwood pulp rose continuously last week, while the spot price of hardwood pulp ran smoothly. On September 16, the average market price of softwood pulp in Shandong was 7,590 RMB/ ton, which was 2.15% higher than the average price at the beginning of the week (on September 11, the average market price of softwood pulp was 7,430 RMB/ ton). On September 16, the average market price of hardwood pulp in Shandong was 6,750 RMB/ ton, which was stable compared with the average price at the beginning of the week (on September 11, the average market price of hardwood pulp was 6,750 RMB/ ton).
From the observation of market changes, the spot price of softwood pulp continued to rise last week, and the pulp futures price also continued to rise. In terms of supply, the domestic mainstream port inventory once again appeared to accumulate, but the warehouse outside the port went to the warehouse in a narrow range, and the overall inventory did not change much compared with last week. With the arrival and impact of domestic typhoon, the arrival speed of pulp is slightly slow, which boosts the price of pulp.
On the demand side, the domestic finished paper market continues to be weak, and the paper mills are not operating well, so it is mainly prudent to wait and see the market, so the pulp price has been suppressed to a certain extent.
In terms of futures, on September 16, the opening price of the pulp futures SP2301 contract of Shanghai Futures Exchange was 6,818 RMB/ ton, the latest price was 6,944 RMB/ ton, 299,100 hands were traded, and 251,401 hands were held. The opening price of the SP2210 contract was 7,462 RMB/ ton, the latest price was 7,384 RMB/ ton, 4,104 deals were transacted, and 12,450 positions were held.
SunSirs wood pulp analysts believe that the pulp futures price continues to operate strongly, driving the spot price higher and higher, while the supply support for the spot market is strong. It is expected that the wood pulp price in China may continue to fluctuate strongly in the short term.
