SunSirs: Under the Support of Raw Materials, the Domestic MIBK Center of Gravity Rose
September 21 2022 10:14:33SunSirs(John)

Price trend

On the 20th, the domestic MIBK market rose slightly, mainly due to the support of continuous upward acetone at the raw material end. Due to cost pressure, the focus of the negotiation was up about 100-150 RMB/ton, and the overall negotiation range was 9,750-9,850 RMB/ton.

Analysis review

For the raw material acetone, some factories raised the listed price of acetone by 100 RMB/ton again on the 20th, and the increase in factories stimulated the market to rise. The performance of the major mainstream markets of acetone in the country varied, and most of them continued the upward trend. Offers in East China pushed up to 5,480-5,550 RMB/ton, and acetone in Shandong and North China rose significantly and the offer was at 5,750 RMB/ton.

The continuous upward trend of the market increased the cost pressure on the downstream, the spot supply on the market was still tight, and the holders of goods had little intention to sell at low prices, but the profit holders intended to ship, and the terminal purchased just on demand. It is expected that acetone will be firm in the short term.

During the week, the operating rate of the MIBK industry was around 80%. The 15,000-ton/year MIBK plant in Zhenyang, Zhejiang was shut down for maintenance on September 17. The operating rate of the industry was around 70%.

Market outlook

Holders' quotations have pushed up, and prices may continue to be supported in the short term.
