According to the monitoring data of SunSirs, as of October 20, 2022, the reference average ex factory price of domestic industrial dimethyl carbonate was 6,500 RMB/ton, which was 500 RMB/ton lower than that of October 15, 2022 (7,000 RMB/ton), a decline of 7.14%.

Analysis review

It can be seen from the data monitoring chart of SunSirs that the overall domestic dimethyl carbonate market was weak and showed a downward trend this week, with a decline of more than 7%. The main factors to lower the center of gravity of dimethyl carbonate come from the following two aspects:

First, on the demand side, after the National Day holiday, the downstream market of dimethyl carbonate ushered in a centralized replenishment. After entering this week, the demand of the downstream market was basically calm. In addition, in the special period, some logistics were limited, and the on-site trading atmosphere was light.

Second, in terms of cost, the market of propylene oxide as raw material declined, and the cost support for dimethyl carbonate was insufficient.

As of October 20, the domestic market price of dimethyl carbonate was around 6,300-6,800 RMB/ton, and the price decreased by 200-600 RMB/ton this week.

In terms of upstream propylene oxide, the recent (10.14-10.19) domestic propylene oxide market generally declined. According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, the reference price of propylene oxide was 9,766 RMB/ton on October 19, a decrease of 3.20% compared with the price on October 14.

Market outlook

As of the 20th, the overall trading and investment atmosphere of dimethyl carbonate in the market was general, the supply and demand transmission was general, and the downstream procurement was more cautious. Dimethyl carbonate mathematicians from SunSirs believe that in the short term, the domestic dimethyl carbonate market is mainly adjusted and operated in a narrow range, and the specific trend needs to pay more attention to the information changes on the supply and demand side.
