According to the data of SunSirs, the average price of ethylene glycol made from oil was 4,083.33 RMB/ton on October 31, and the average market price at the beginning of the month was 4,350 RMB/ton, down 6.13%.

Analysis review

From the data of the supply side, as of the 31st, the domestic ethylene glycol overall started at a relatively low starting rate. In the near future, some units are planned to restart. The 300,000 ton units in Inner Mongolia and the 600,000 ton units in Sanning, Hubei will be restarted. The domestic ethylene glycol supply is expected to recover at a low level.

On the demand side, the terminal order was weak, the weaving operation rate was not high, the downstream operation level fell back, and the accumulated warehouse pressure on the polyester side increased.

According to the inventory data, the port inventory accumulated slightly. As of October 31, the total inventory of MEG ports in the main port area of East China was 829,300 tons, up 2,200 tons from the previous statistical cycle.

Market outlook

The overall pattern of strong supply and weak demand of ethylene glycol is difficult to change in the short term, and MEG may be weak in the short term.
