Poland's total cereal production, including maize, in 2022 could reach a record 36 million tons, up 4 percent from last year, according to Statistics Poland.
Such high yields will allow Poland to maintain its position as the EU's third-largest grain producer, said Marcin Wronski, deputy director of the Polish National Institute for Agricultural Support.
Poland's Statistics Office expects a record wheat production this year at nearly 13.5 million tons, up 11 percent from a year earlier. Production of other grains is likely to be lower than last year, with rye production likely to be close to 2.4 million tons, down 5% year-on-year, and barley production at 2.8 million tons, down 6% year-on-year. Oat production is likely to fall by 7% to 1.5 million tons.
