According to the Commodity Analysis System of SunSirs, the domestic market for imported potassium chloride had slightly declined this week, with prices dropping from 2,900.00 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week to 2,850.00 RMB/ton at the end of the week, a decrease of 1.72%.

On June 4th, the potassium chloride (imported) commodity index was 90.48 points, unchanged from the previous day, a decrease of 48.18% from the cycle's highest point of 174.60 points (2022-06-21), and an increase of 55.33% from the lowest point of 58.25 points on August 6th, 2020. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from March 1st, 2012 to present)

Analysis review

This week, the prices of mainstream domestic potassium chloride manufacturers had slightly decreased: Xiangyang Youdeshi's weekend potassium chloride distribution price was 2,900 RMB/ton, a decrease of 200 RMB/ton compared to the beginning of the week. Zibo Dehe weekend potassium chloride distribution quotation was 2,950 RMB/ton, which was temporarily stable compared to the beginning of the week. Anhui Badou weekend potassium chloride distribution quotation was 2,750 RMB/ton, which was temporarily stable compared to the beginning of the week. Shandong Xinkaisheng's weekend potassium chloride distribution quotation was 2,800 RMB/ton, which was temporarily stable compared to the beginning of the week. The arrival price of 60% white potassium in Qinghai was around 2,600-2,700 RMB/ton, and the port's 62% white potassium self picked up price was around 2,750 RMB/ton. The self picked up price of 60% bright red granules at the port was around 3,000 RMB/ton. Border trade accounted for 62% of Russian white potassium at around 2,300-2,400 RMB/ton.

From the downstream market situation of potassium chloride, the factory price of potassium carbonate had slightly decreased this week, from 8,270.00 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week to 8,180.00 RMB/ton at the weekend, a decrease of 1.09%, and the weekend price had decreased by 16.32% year-on-year. This week, the factory price of potassium nitrate slightly decreased, from 5,125.00 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week to 5,100.00 RMB/ton at the weekend, a decrease of 0.49%. The weekend price decreased by 32.78% year-on-year. Overall, the downstream market for potassium chloride had slightly declined, and downstream customers' demand for potassium chloride had weakened.

Market outlook

In mid to late June, the overall trend of potassium chloride market may fluctuate and decline in a narrow range, with consolidation being the main trend. The prices of potassium chloride in Salt Lakes and Zangge consolidated at low levels. The downstream market of potassium chloride had slightly declined, and downstream demand had weakened, and the procurement was mainly based on demand. International potassium fertilizer prices continued to decline. Potassium chloride analysts from SunSirs believe that domestic potassium chloride import prices may slightly decline in the short term.
