Furfural was hydrogenated and reduced to fururyl alcohol under catalyst conditions. This week, the domestic market for furfural (national standard, industrial grade, 250KG/barrel) fluctuated and declined. On May 11th, the average price of furfural quoted was 9,575.00 RMB/ton (including tax). On May 17th, it was 9,425.00 RMB/ton, a decrease of 1.57%.

On the demand side: Furfuryl alcohol was mainly used for the production of furfural resin, furan resin, furfuryl alcohol urea resin, phenolic resin, etc; It is also used to prepare fruit acids, plasticizers, solvents, and rocket fuels; It is also widely used in industrial sectors such as dyes, synthetic fibers, rubber, pesticides, and casting.

Market outlook

According to Furfural Products analysts from SunSirs, the upstream furfural market was temporarily declining, which provided poor support for furfural. Downstream demand for furfural maintained rigid, and it is expected that furfural will mainly decline in the near future.
