SunSirs: New Round of Price Increase Forecast for Large-scale Paper Mills Released

April 18 2024 14:47:14     SunSirs (Selena)

Since the beginning of April, various bases of large-scale paper mills have been continuously increasing prices. As soon as the price increase forecast time was reached, another base's price increase forecast had already been released, and the price increase nodes were evenly distributed throughout each week of April.

On April 15th, Jiulong Chongqing, Leshan, and Tianjin bases will increase their prices by 30 RMB/ton as planned, involving corrugated paper, recycled kraft cardboard, and other paper types; The T-paper and tile paper series at Shanying Guangdong Base will be increased by 30 RMB/ton. On the same day, Dongguan Jiulong released a price adjustment notice on April 23rd, with a planned increase of 30 RMB/ton in the price of Niuka, continuing to continue the increase until the end of the month.

However, not all price increase forecasts can be carried out as scheduled. It is reported that Shenyang Jiulong Base originally announced a 30 RMB/ton increase in raw paper prices on the 15th, but in reality, on the same day, DiNiu, DiZai, and corrugated paper prices were reduced by 60 RMB/ton, while others were reduced by 30 RMB/ton. At present, oversupply is still the mainstream trend in the market, but due to the rise in raw material and waste paper prices, the cost of paper mills has risen, and some downstream raw paper inventories are at a low level, increasing the willingness to replenish inventory. Therefore, the downward trend of mainstream paper mills is not strong, and the upward trend is also driven by the market trend.

Recently, the National Bureau of Statistics released the first quarter national economic data: in the first quarter, the added value of industries above designated size in China increased by 6.1% year-on-year; The total retail sales of consumer goods reached 12,032.7 billion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%. The paper packaging industry, as a comprehensive supporting industry that is essential for enterprises and industries, has a direct relationship with the national economic development whether the market can warm up. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, it has also increased confidence in the future market warming.
