SunSirs: The Seamless Tube Market Experienced a Slight Decline This Week (August 5-9)

August 12 2024 13:40:28

Price trend

According to data from SunSirs, the price of seamless tubes had slightly decreased this week. As of the weekend, the price of 20#, 108 * 4.5 seamless tubes was quoted at 4,365 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.63% from the beginning of the week and a year-on-year decrease of 10.05%.

Analysis review

This week, steel mills' prices for tube blanks had dropped. The factory price for 20# hot-rolled tube billets was 3,440-3,900 RMB/ton, a decrease of 10-30 RMB/ton.

With the further decline in raw material prices, the sentiment of manufacturers had been significantly dampened, and the spot market was relatively quiet, with actual transactions mostly being low-priced resources. Although the beginning of autumn arrived, many places were still in a state of high temperature roasting, and terminal construction was limited. Actual demand continued to be sluggish, and downstream purchasing willingness had significantly weakened. As of August 9th, the supply-demand contradiction had not been effectively alleviated, and the sales pressure of various traders was relatively high, mainly focusing on shipment. However, the atmosphere of wait-and-see among traders and downstream tourists was becoming stronger.

Market outlook

In summary, it is expected that the price of seamless tubes will continue to adjust weakly.
