September 11 2024 09:22:11     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

The price of dichloromethane remained stable after a slight rebound this week. According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of September 9th, the average price of bulk dichloromethane in Shandong Province was 2,730 RMB/ton, with a weekly increase of 5.2%.

Analysis review

The cost of raw materials had slightly increased, and the methanol and liquid chlorine markets had experienced a narrow decline this week; the operating rate of the methane chloride unit had slightly increased, and the price of dichloromethane had slightly rebounded at the end of August. The demand side had low enthusiasm for double section replenishment, and the overall market transaction atmosphere was weak. Downstream customers basically maintained their demand for replenishment. As of September 9th, the ex factory price of mainstream dichloromethane in Shandong region was around 2,720-2,730 RMB/ton.

Supply side: The domestic methane chloride production rate had returned to stability.

In terms of raw materials: Recently, the raw material methanol continued to fluctuate weakly. According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, as of September 9th, the spot price of methanol was 2,385.83 RMB/ton, a decrease of 3.8% from the beginning of the month. The price of liquid chlorine had been lowered, and downstream enterprises stopped for maintenance, resulting in a poor overall trading atmosphere.

In terms of demand, the popularity of restocking purchases for gold September and silver October was not high. Solvent was the main use of dichloromethane. As of September 9th, there was a strong wait-and-see sentiment in the market, and the trading atmosphere was weak. Downstream refrigerants were produced according to quotas and urgently needed for procurement.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ analysts believe that the demand for replenishment has not yet started, and the price of dichloromethane is expected to be consolidated in the short term.
