October 22 2024 14:51:18     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

According to monitoring data from SunSirs, the price of caustic soda continued to rise after the holiday. On October 21st, the average price of caustic soda in the Shandong region was 991 RMB/ton, an increase of 9.75% compared to October 14th.

Analysis review

According to survey data from SunSirs, the overall price of caustic soda had increased after the holiday. As of October 21st, the price of caustic soda in Jiangsu region was on the rise, with the mainstream market price for 32% ion exchange membrane caustic soda ranging from 1,000 to 1,050 RMB/ton. The price of caustic soda in Shandong region ws rising, and the mainstream market price of 32% ion exchange membrane alkali was around 990-1,050 RMB/ton.

After the holiday, caustic soda manufacturers adjusted their quotations flexibly according to their own needs. Since October, with the support of equipment maintenance and load reduction in the early stage of the East China region, the spot price of liquid alkali in the East China region had risen. From the perspective of enterprise inventory, the inventory of caustic soda plants was temporarily low. Downstream demand is expected to see a stable to strong trend in domestic alumina prices in the short term. The production lines of alumina plants will maintain high load production in the long term, resulting in good demand for caustic soda and driving up caustic soda prices.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ analysts believe that recently, the price of caustic soda had been on the rise, indicating a trend in the market. As of October 21st, the inventory of caustic soda plants was low, the number of maintenance enterprises in the main production areas was increasing, and the downstream demand for alumina was good, which provided some support for the price of caustic soda. Overall, it is expected to rise mainly in the later stage, depending on downstream market demand.
