SunSirs: China Corrugated Paper Market Maintains Stable

October 25 2024 10:34:11     SunSirs (Selena)

According to the monitoring of the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of corrugated paper has remained stable this week. On October 24th, the average ex factory price of 140g corrugated paper was 2,600 RMB/ton, which remained stable compared to the average price on October 20th.

In terms of upstream raw materials, the price of waste paper in Zhejiang region has continued to decline this week, and the price of waste paper in domestic paper mills has fluctuated. On October 24th, the average purchase price of A-grade waste yellow board paper in Zhejiang region was 1,503 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.79% compared to the average price on October 20th. At the beginning of the week, there was still a slight decrease in the price of waste paper in some areas. Although the market is in the peak season, the increase in downstream waste paper inventory has driven down the price of waste paper. As the weekend approaches, paper mills often adjust the price of waste paper according to their own needs, resulting in a fluctuating trend in waste paper prices.

Supply side: Currently, the inventory levels of most corrugated paper companies are at a medium to high level, and the market supply is flat. Although the market is in peak season, there is not much increase in downstream market orders, and the inventory consumption of paper mills is average. After multiple large-scale paper mills issued price increase notices, some small and medium-sized paper mills followed suit, but most paper mills are still in a wait-and-see state.

On the demand side, downstream packaging factories have shown relatively stable order performance, with a slight increase in procurement volume due to the impact of paper mill price increases, and market trading is normal. After a moderate replenishment of inventory, market demand gradually stabilized, and paper packaging companies once again entered a state of rigid demand procurement, leading to a wait-and-see state for both upstream and downstream corrugated paper.

The paper analyst from SunSirs believes that the current mainstream of the corrugated paper market is stable, and there may be a slight increase in corrugated paper prices in some areas. The downstream market will maintain a state of on-demand procurement, and it is expected that corrugated paper prices will remain stable with small fluctuations in the short term.
