According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of bromine has remained stable this week. The average market price from the beginning of the week to the end of the week was 21,900 RMB/ton, a decrease of 9.5% compared to the same period last year.

On January 9th, the SunSirs Bromine Index was 76.84 points, unchanged from the previous day, a decrease of 68.66% from the highest point of 245.18 points (2021-10-27) during the cycle, and an increase of 30.41% from the lowest point of 58.92 points on October 29, 2014. (Note: The cycle refers to the period from September 1, 2011 to present)

Analysis review

This week, the price of bromine was running steadily, and in the Shandong region, the price of bromine was running steadily. The mainstream market price was around 21,500-22,000 RMB/ton, and manufacturers were conducting centralized maintenance. Most downstream manufacturers had also stopped production. Downstream demand was weak. In terms of raw materials, domestic sulfur prices remained strong, with an average market price of 1,654.33 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 1,624.33 RMB/ton over the weekend, a decrease of 1.81% and an increase of 75.29% compared to the same period last year. Downstream demand was still acceptable.

Market outlook

The price of bromine has been temporarily stable in recent times, while the price of upstream sulfur has remained strong. However, the enthusiasm for downstream demand for bromine has decreased, and demand was mainly driven by on-demand procurement, resulting in a supply-demand game. Overall, it is expected that bromine may continue to consolidate in the later stage, depending on downstream market demand.
