SunSirs: Slowdown of Sales, Decline in China Sugar Prices

April 27 2025 14:32:32     SunSirs (Selena)

According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the average price of first grade white sugar in China was 6,177 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week, and 6,167 RMB/ton at the end of the week, with a price drop of 0.16%.

Domestically, the sugar production during the 2024/25 crushing season is expected to increase to 11 million tons, with a significant increase in sugar beet production. The lodging of sugarcane in Yunnan and Guangxi has led to a decrease in yield increase. On the demand side: The off-season of consumption has led to weak spot transactions, and downstream enterprises mainly purchase on demand, maintaining low inventory levels.

The sugar production during the 2024/25 crushing season was 40.169 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.31%; The expected production for the 2025/26 crushing season is expected to increase to 42 million tons, and supply pressure may increase. Brazil's sugar exports in September reached 3.9538 million tons, with strong demand in the international market, but the pace of domestic imports slowed down due to profit inversion.

Domestic consumption is sluggish during the off-season, and it is expected that sugar prices will mainly fluctuate and weaken in the short term.
