According to the commodity analysis system of SunSirs, the price trend of soda ash remained stable last week. As of April 25th, the average market price of soda ash was 1,400 RMB/ton, which was the same as the 1,400 RMB/ton soda ash price on April 18th and a decrease of 2.37% from the beginning of the month.

Analysis review

Last week, the soda ash market remained stable with small fluctuations, and prices in some regions  slightly decreased during the week. The operating rate of supply side equipment remained high, the market supply was sufficient, and enterprises maintained active shipment. Downstream consumption of inventory was the main factor, and the market buying sentiment was average. The demand for soda ash was limited, and on-site trading was weak. The overall transaction price of soda ash fluctuated slightly.

As of April 25th, the reference price for the soda ash market in East China was around 1,280-1,500 RMB/ton for light soda ash, which remained unchanged from last Friday; The reference price for the soda ash market in Central China was around 1,240-1,400 RMB/ton for light soda ash, a decrease of 20 RMB/ton compared to last Friday.

According to the commodity analysis system of SunSirs, the downstream glass market was running steadily. From April 18th to 25th, glass prices remained at 15.58 RMB/square meter. The capacity utilization rate of the glass market had slightly decreased, downstream demand was poor, market consumption was slow, glass inventory had accumulated narrowly, and market prices were stable and waiting to be seen.

Market outlook

There were maintenance plans for some domestic soda ash plants, which would reduce production capacity utilization and improve market sentiment. However, in terms of demand, downstream entry enthusiasm was not high, and the situation of oversupply in the market still existed. It is expected that the soda ash market will operate steadily in the short term, and specific attention will be paid to downstream demand follow-up.
