SunSirs: The Spot Prices of Aniline Rose Slightly This Week (August 17-21)

August 25 2020 14:45:34     SunSirs (John)

Price trend

According to data from SunSirs’ bulk list, the spot price of aniline in the market rose slightly this week. On August 21, the price of aniline in Shandong was 4,250-4,430 RMB/ton, and the price of aniline in East China was 4,400-4,500 RMB/ton.

Analysis review

In terms of cost, the list price of pure benzene this Sunday (August 23) was 3,000-3,450 RMB/ton (average price 3,390 RMB/ton), and the average price was 50 RMB/ton lower than last week, or down 1.45%. The decline of pure benzene in the north this week was obvious, and the restart of the downstream maintenance equipment was delayed, which put pressure on the supply and demand in the north. The listing price of pure benzene in North China of Sinopec has been lowered by 100 RMB /ton, and no adjustment has been made in the rest of the region. The market is waiting for Sinopec’s price guidance. This week, pure benzene port stocks were still high, but the unloading pressure was reduced.

Nitric acid prices fell again this week. On the 14th, the price in East China was 1,516.67 RMB/ton, and on the 21st, the price was 1,500 RMB/ton, down 16.67 RMB/ton or 1.1% from last week.

East China companies executed contract orders and spot prices rose slightly.

Market outlook

In terms of costs, the weak downstream demand is more bearish, which has a greater drag on the pure benzene market. In addition, the port inventory is still high, and the short-term pure benzene market remains weak. In the later period, attention should be paid to the adjustment of Sinopec's listing price and the change of downstream construction load.

There is no significant increase in demand from downstream factories. Shandong companies mostly stabilize prices and destock, and East China mainly supplies cargo to execute contracts. The price of aniline is expected to remain stable next week.
